Programs & Purpose

Senior Bocce

Coordinate with Atterdag Village, Senior Center (Valley Community Center), and Golden Inn and Village (Rona Barrett) to introduce bocce to their members. Bocce is a healthful sport for seniors and promotes socialization.

Youth Bocce

Coordinate with YMCA, Buellton and Solvang Recreation to promote bocce to youth during summer vacation (includes Special Olympics).

Public Courts

Assist with fundraising, planning, and maintenance of public courts in the Santa Ynez Valley. Buellton River View Park has a potential site.

Bocce Clinics

Professional instructors will teach fundamentals, techniques, and strategy to novice or experienced players. Clinic dates to be announced through local leagues, web site, and newspaper ads.

Organize Local Tournaments

Competitive events like “Moneyball” for experienced players, as well as social tournaments featuring random draw teams. Tournaments can be used for fundraising for other local organizations. Events will be open to local and out of area participants. Venues will be existing sites (Alisal River Course, Flying Flags RV Resort, Marriott Hotel) and planned future sites (Live Oak Lanes).

Traveling Teams

The SYVBF will sponsor local teams to travel to tournaments in Southern California or Bay Area. Entry fees and/or travel expenses will be paid by SYVBF.

Portable Bocce Courts

Constructed of painted lumber, portable courts will be used for tournaments, clinics, and Senior/Youth/Special Olympics bocce events. Such courts have been used for popular bocce events held indoors at casinos in Las Vegas and Reno but can also be used outdoors.
